Name: Mag. (FH) Sabine Hametner (graduated 2009)
Company: Philips Canada
Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
From April to September 2012 I am working with Philips Healthcare in Montreal, Canada. This six month international assignment is part of the international trainee program with Philips. The trainee program is split into three parts. A trainee with Philips is working for a period of 20 months in the DACH (Deutschland, Oesterreich, Schweiz) region. Ideally a trainee experiences ten month in one country and the other ten months in a different country in the DACH region, as well as in a different business field of Philips. Philips is operating in three business segments: Lighting, Healthcare and Consumer Lifestyle. In between the two times ten months in the DACH countries, 50% of the trainees get assigned on a short term international assignment, which in my case is with Philips Healthcare in Montreal.
The aim of my international assignment is to get to know Philips Healthcare and support the Strategic Business Department with a market analysis on the private clinics in the province of Quebec. My personal goal is to get training on the Philips modalities in Healthcare and learn French. For this I am trying to participate in site visits and demos which the specialits arrange for customers. In addition I am taking an evening course in French. For more information about Philips Healthcare in Canada, please visit: www.healthcare.philips.com/ca_en
I started the trainee program in „Marketing and Sales“ with Philips in May 2011 with Philips Lighting in Zurich, Switzerland. For 11 months I supported the Marketing Communications Manager of Professional Lighting in Zurich by preparing trade fairs, brochures and catalogues, and other sales supportive documents and activities.

Starting with October 1st I will be working with the Consumer Lifestyle division of Philips in Vienna for the remaining ten months of the trainee program. Philips not only offers the trainee program for Marketing & Sales but also for Finance & Controlling, Purchasing & Supply Chain Management, and Human Resources Management.
